Sometimes we only value what we don't have or what we once had...

Before memories are lost, here I leave a secret of the Beirã gastronomic tradition. The names and stages of making this treasure are passed down from generation to generation and in the end, the flavors that some of us still have the privilege of appreciating remain.

Fresh eggs are the first element to come on the scene...

To continue, some oranges come in that lend their juice to enrich the recipe.

Nowadays the trend is to reduce sugar in all foods but here the tradition remains...

Homemade brandy and olive oil cannot be missing either and with a pinch of salt are heated in the fireplace.

Feeling the flavors and aromas is also part of the process... If these cakes were not made in the village, they would not have the same flavor!

Then it's time to add the flour and the other elements that were previously prepared.

They are all taken to the "wooden gym" where, after a lengthy "massage", they begin to shape the cakes.


The oven has to be previously prepared and the type of firewood and temperature are points that are not chosen at random.

Nothing remains to be done, before entering the oven, the cakes that are already shaped, still go through the "makeup" section.
